“We had a look and couldn’t see anything, before the coastguard took over the search. We were stood down by 5.45pm.”

A spokesman for Her Majesty’s Coastguard said the situation had initially looked ‘quite bad’, with fears a vulnerable women had walked into the sea.

But after a thorough search, nothing was found.

The news comes days after a body was found floating off Goring beach.
