THE flag is no longer flying at Chambers Bistro in Shoreham, due to high winds.
Firefighters were called to assist at the old town hall building in High Street at 12.31pm today.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue said that due to the height, the aerial ladder platform from Worthing had to be called but once it was in place, it took only ten minutes to remove the flagpole.
Sussex Police were called to help control the traffic, with the westbound lane having to be closed for the procedure.
The firefighters left the town centre at 1.37pm and the road is now back to normal.
Staff were concerned about the safety of the flagpole, which had been heard swinging in the wind this morning.
