Martin Cadman, 33, who lived in Beeding and Shoreham, died in June this year.

The father of four had disappeared a few days before his death and gave no reason to his friends or family.

Martin’s death prompted his brother Chris Cadman-Dando, along with ten of Martin’s friends, to take part in the Warrior Run in Albourne, a few miles north of Brighton, this Sunday.

The eleven men are also raising money for YMCA and the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

Chris, 37, of Coombe Road in Steyning, said: “We are doing this to raise awareness of the problem of suicide in young men.

“Young men are responsible for 76 per cent of all suicides in the UK and we want to show people that it is alright to talk about it and seek help.

“CALM is a charity with a helpline so that anyone suffering with depression or suicidal thoughts can contact them and get some help.

“We are also raising money for YMCA because before Martin disappeared, he had gone to a YMCA and spoken to them. They were extremely helpful and supportive after his death so we wanted to do this to help them.”

The Warrior Run is the south coast’s toughest obstacle run, with 50 obstacles spread over 7 kilometres of mud, tunnels, streams and swamps.

In preparation for the gruelling course, the eleven men, who were all close to Martin, have now completed nine weeks of training with a mixture of running, HIIT training, body weight strength training, circuit training and even some pilates.

Throughout the training period, the men have uploaded videos of their training sessions to their Tru Challenge website.

Chris added: “We have been training in many different ways over the last few weeks and we are looking to keep it interesting.

“One of the lads originally provided the idea of the Warrior Run because he has done it before and felt it was a good way to raise money.

“We want to help people, and young men in particular, to talk about their problems and that’s why we chose to raise money for CALM.

“We hope that people donate to this cause because it is extremely important and I don’t think people realise just how major this problem is in the UK.

“We want to show everyone that it is OK to speak to CALM and then they can help you.”

The other ten men taking part in the Warrior Run with Chris are David Putnam, Ben Domone, Tim Chase, Paul Standing, James Pargeter, Jason Cooke, Mick Yearsley, Si Colbourne, Stu Colbourne and Joe Bennett.

They have currently raised £1,600 online and through sponsorships.
