THEY are more accustomed to getting their kit on in a hurry, but firefighters in Steyning have now stripped to the waist for a new calendar to raise money for charity.
The crew, who all work as firefighters at the retained fire station, in High Street, Steyning, have produced the Fire Fighter Charity Calendar 2015.
Sales of the calendar will raise both money and awareness for the Fire Fighters Charity, Cancer Research UK and mental health charity Mind.
The calendar, which is sponsored by a number of local businesses, was unveiled during a special late-night Christmas shopping event in Steyning.
It features photographs of the firefighters, some with their fire kit on and some stripped to their waist, alongside seasonal fire and road safety messages for each month.
This calendar arrives just as Steyning Fire Station welcomes two new recruits to the fold.
Crew manager Richard Poole, who came up with the idea of the calendar, said: “We’re hoping this will be a light-hearted and festive way to raise much needed funds for three great charities that are close to our hearts.
“The bare-chested photographs are tongue in cheek and definitely family- friendly.
“We think the calendar makes a great little stocking filler.”
“We’d like to thank all those local business who have generously sponsored this project.
“Their support means that all the proceeds from the calendar can go directly to the charities.”
The three charities include Fire Fighters Charity, which enhances quality of life for serving and retired firefighters.
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
And Cancer Research UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat the disease.

The calendar is £8.99 and available from Steyning Tearooms, The White Horse pub, Ringcraft Jewellers, Osborn Humphries and HJ Burt & Sons in Steyning.
