The finished beast stretched halfway across Adur Ferry Bridge by the time it was finished on Saturday, with many families turning up at the two-day workshop to make pieces for it.

The event, on Coronation Green, was organised by adurArtcollective and Over the Moon and volunteers involved said they were pleased with its success.

Chris Howitt, secretary of adurArtcollective, said: “Lots of people old and young supported the event and between them helped build a beast which stretched halfway along the bridge.

“She is gone now, but her baby sister can be seen at The Old School House, in Ham Road, Shoreham, which is Venue 1 on Adur Art Trail for the next two weekends.”
