The nursing and residential care home, in Henfield Road, hosted the summer event last Saturday, in aid of St Barnabas House in Worthing.

Zoë Bates, owner and manager, said: “The gardens looked lovely and the weather was beautiful. Although we do not know exactly how many people attended, there were certainly more than last year.

“Our good friends from Let’s Dance Hassocks provided the entertainment, with country dancing and maypole dancing, and some of our guests had a go too.

“Pimm’s was served alongside soft drinks to help wash down some delicious strawberries and cream. Also on the menu were some stunning cakes by Collette Williams from Glitter Hut in Steyning, who generously made them for us at cost price. Collette also donated a selection of cakes for the raffle.”

Families, friends and local businesses also donated prizes, including a beautiful rose bush, for the raffle, run by a resident’s daughters.

Zoë added: “After the dancing had finished, the raffle was drawn and it was so nice to see such a wide spread of prizes. It was especially nice that one of our residents won the rose bush, which will be planted very soon.”

Donations towards refreshments and raffle ticket sales raised a total of £325.
