One of the victims was treated at the scene by paramedics and the other was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, where he received treatment for a stab wound to the left side of his abdomen. The injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

Detective sergeant Simon Dunn of West Sussex CID said: “This incident took place in the middle of Saturday afternoon and is thought to have happened between a group of people known to each other who were all inside the house. It is not believed there was any risk to other members of the public.

“The injuries sustained by both teenagers could have been so much worse. One teenager was treated for a deep stab wound to his left side. This led to a bleed in his lung and he is very lucky not to have been more seriously injured. Should the attack have been a few inches either side this investigation could have been far more serious.

“We have all heard about the tragic consequences of knife crime and I would strongly urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything or anyone with information about this incident to contact police.”
