A DRIVER was rescued from his car by firefighters after it overturned in a residential street in Southwick on Thursday.

Despite a full day of strikes over pensions, three fire engines from Worthing, Steyning and Brighton attended the accident in Hadrian Avenue at 7:20pm where the man was trapped inside his car.

Firefighters released him using small tools and a ladder before the incident was left with police.

Another strike is set to take place on Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
