Worthing and Southlands hospitals open as usual after flooding

WORTHING and Southlands hospitals are open as normal today, despite the bad weather and flooding.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, which operates the hospitals, has today (Tuesday, June 12) issued a statement reassuring people it is “business as usual” after Worthing Hospital’s basement was flooded yesterday (Monday, June 11).

Work is continuing to clear up the flooding at Worthing, but all clinical services are running normally.

Southlands Hospital is accessible by road and public transport and is working normally, too.

The trust is asking patients who have appointments booked to attend as normal, but to contact clinics as soon as possible if travel problems closer to their homes mean they are unable to come in.

Jeannie Baumann, director of clinical services, women and children’s health, said: “Our staff have been fantastic in clearing up after the basement flooding at Worthing and making sure we are able to operate normally across all three sites.

“If you have an appointment, please attend as normal.”
