West Sussex firefighters tackle arson and street light fire

IT has been another busy 24 hours for West Sussex firefighters.

Here are just some of the incidents attended yesterday (Tuesday, April 3) and so far today (April 4).

Tuesday, April 3, 9.19am to 9.51am:

Café, in Deanery Farm Road, Chichester – fire in griddle in kitchen. Griddle well alight on arrival of firefighters from Chichester. Fire extinguished, kitchen ventilated and griddle removed to open air.

Wooded area at Goring Gap, Goring – fire in wooded area extinguished by crews from Shoreham and Worthing. Arsonists blamed.

Tuesday, April 3, 6.36pm to 7.27pm:

The Plantation, Goring Gap, Goring – unattended bonfire extinguished by firefighters from Worthing.

Tuesday, April 3, 7.50pm to 8.05pm:

House in Upper Brighton Road, Worthing – residents reported smell of burning and discovered a small fire in an electrical light switch. Fire out on arrival of crew from Worthing. Electrics isolated and house checked for further signs of fire using thermal imaging camera.

Wednesday, April 4, 8.21am to 8.53am:

Arundel Road, High Salvington – small electrical fire in street lamp. One Co2 extinguisher used by firefighters from Worthing.
