TRAVEL UPDATE: Train lines through Littlehampton reopened, delays remain

All lines through Littlehampton have been reopened following a signalling fault, however commuters may still be facing disruptions for the next few hours.

Earlier this evening, Southern Rail announced that a ‘fault with the signalling system at Littlehampton’ had caused the upset, with disruptions expected until 7pm.

However, they have now stated that despite lines reopening, delays can be expected to last until 9pm.

They said earlier: “A signalling problem is preventing trains from moving in and out of Littlehampton.

“An earlier electrical supply problem is causing severe disruption to services to and from Bognor Regis.

Network Rail, who own and maintain the signalling and track, are attending the reported points problem at Littlehampton and have found that a cable has been damaged and a replacement is required.”

Southern tickets are being accepted on Stagecoach route 700 bus between Brighton and Havant.

South West Trains are accepting tickets between Portsmouth and London.

A replacement bus service is in operation between Barnham and Littlehampton and Barnham to Bognor Regis.
