Sussex morning travel bulletin for Sunday, December 20

Here is your Sussex travel update for this morning (Sunday, December 20).

The main roads across the county are largely clear as of this morning but gas and water main work is taking place in parts of Sussex.

There is also long-term construction work that may impact on motorists’ journeys today.

In Seaford there are temporary traffic signals due to gas leak on A259 Eastbourne Road near Chyngton Lane North.

There are also temporary traffic lights due to gas main work on the A259 Bexhill Road from Bridgeway to Bulverhythe Road in St Leonards today, as well as on the A2101 in St Helen’s Road around St Helen’s Park Road in Hastings.

On the A22 there is a speed restriction of 30mph and restrictions due to construction on the road from B2102 (Copwood roundabout) to A26 Lewes Road.

In Brighton a one-way system and coronavirus social distancing measures is in place on Madeira Drive eastbound between A259 Marine Parade (Palace Pier) and the beach volleyball court. Traffic can now use and park on Madeira Drive, but only coming from the pier towards Dukes Mound.

Further west, there are temporary traffic signals due to water main work on the A280 before A27 Arundel Road (Angmering/Clapham junction).

There are also temporary traffic lights due to gas main work on B2140 South Terrace around St Augustine Road in Littlehampton.

A traffic shift and speed restriction of 40mph is taking place due to long-term construction on the A259 Worthing Road both ways between the Body Shop Roundabout and Wick Roundabout.
