The M23 is shut northbound between junctions eight and ten while works are carried out after a lorry crashed yesterday, Highways South East said.

But the southbound carriageway has fully reopened.

Brassey Avenue is shut both ways between Brampton Road and Station Approach, the AA said.

A spokesman added: “The road is closed whilst repairs are made to the level crossing at Hampden Park Station.”

There is heavy traffic due to a two car crash on the A272 Curtains Hill at Five Chimneys Lane, the AA said. The incident is affecting traffic between Buxted and Hadlow Down.

Severe delays of ten minutes and delays increasing are being reported on the B2066 New Church Road Westbound between Regent Hill and St Philips Mews.

A fault on a train at Hever is currently affecting services between Oxted and Uckfield, Southern Rail said.

Bus Replacement buses have been requested to assist people with their journeys this afternoon.

A spokesman added: “If you require travel assistance in the mean time, please speak to station staff where possible.

“Alternatively, press the green Emergency button on the Help Points to speak to a member of our control teams.”

In an update at 5.06pm a Southern Rail spokesman said: “Whilst we are still able to run between these stations, the following service will be cancelled:

“18:07 Uckfield - Oxted

“A bus will replace this service, calling at all stations.

“Please travel as normal at all other times.”
