Essential road surfacing is scheduled to take place on a stretch of the A24 Findon Road in Findon Valley and at the Thomas A'Becket crossroads - also known as Poulters Corner.

West Sussex County Council said resurfacing the roads will make it more resistant to potholes and reduce the need for other small repairs.

Temporary traffic lights will manage congestion for the duration of the work, but the council said access to properties will be maintained.

Work on Findon Road will involve resurfacing approaches to the pedestrian crossing near Cissbury Avenue and is scheduled to take place on October 16, then October 19 and 20.

This will include replacing high-friction surfacing on approaches to the pedestrian crossing.

Cissbury Avenue will be closed at the junction with Findon Road, with a diversion in place. Work is expected to be carried out between 8pm and 6am.

Work will take place at Poulters Corner during the same times, but between October 19 and 22.

Approaches to the crossroads will be resurfaced in Poulters Lane, Littlehampton Road, Rectory Road and Offington Lane.

Each road will be closed in phases and the work will include upgrading traffic lights at the crossroads during the daytime. That traffic light work is expected to run until mid-November.

Pedestrian crossing points will also be improved.
