Emergency services deal with serious collision in Worthing town centre

A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision with a car in Worthing.

The 36-year-old local man was crossing the A259 North Street just before 8pm on Friday evening (May 15) when he was in collision with a black Nissan Qashqai. He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, a spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed. The 40-year-old driver of the Nissan, a Worthing man, was uninjured, police added. The road was closed for several hours while rescue, recovery and investigation work took place and was fully re-opened around 1.30am.Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting Operation Maplehurst.
