Car crash and television fire attended by West Sussex firefighters

INCIDENTS attended by West Sussex firefighters on Friday (May 11) and over the weekend (Saturday, May 12, to Sunday, May 13) include:

Friday, May 11, 3.15pm to 4.25pm:

Chapel Road, Worthing – bin fire caused by discarded smoking materials extinguished by Worthing firefighters.

Saturday, May 12, 12.11pm to 1pm:

Kingston Lane, Shoreham – crash involving one car and one van. One person released from an overturned car before the arrival of firefighters and treated by paramedics at the scene. Small spillage and scene made safe by Shoreham firefighters.

Saturday, May 12, 3.35pm to 3.44pm:

Hildon Close, Durrington – small fire in television, fire out on arrival of two crews from Worthing.

Saturday, May 12, 5.35pm to 7.09pm:

Farmland off Sopers Lane, Steyning – fire in a large heap of dung and straw. Crews from Shoreham used two hose reels and one tractor to bring under control. Incident handed back to farmer to burn out.

Saturday, May 12, 6.06pm to 6.21pm:

Skate bowl, in Mayflower Way, Angmering – arsonists blamed for rubbish fire. Firefighters from East Preston handed the incident over to police.

Saturday, May 12, 10.20pm to 11.01pm:

Woods to the rear of Hill Barn Lane, Worthing – bonfire extinguished by firefighters using buckets of water. Incident left with police.
