Traders in East Worthing set for directory to boost their firms’ profiles

Innovative entrepreneurs are aiming to support firms in East Worthing with an ambitious online business directory.

Marketing specialist Robert Truman and web designer Dr Sharon Thomas have joined forces to realise an opportunity to promote a wide range of companies in need of gaining greater exposure.

Having previously turned their hands to creating web content for clients as varied as leasehold management firms and exclusive golf clubs, and even a Greek church, they felt there would be strong demand for their internet services in Worthing.

Sharon, who gained her design skills at college in Hove, explained she was relishing the prospect of their new venture, which is expected to be operational this month.

She said: “From speaking to some of the clients we already had, we realised there was an opportunity to help put East Worthing on the map in highlighting its businesses.

“Through the East Worthing Traders website, companies will be able to display their logos and have their own section and we’ll be able to promote any special offers that they have.

“We’ve designed it to make it as local as possible to the area and we hope this will help give them the tools to be successful with their businesses.”

Mr Truman, who is based in Worthing, explained its clients would pay an initial fee of around £100 for being registered and hosted on its new site, which would also involve a competitive monthly fee for ongoing web support.

While he acknowledged there were a number of potential larger customers which they could have approached, the pair were keen to focus on supporting smaller firms from within the area.

He believed there were significant opportunities for smaller firms to significantly improve their present business profile through using the new directory service.

He said: “We’ve been round a lot of companies in East Worthing and we didn’t realise just how many interesting firms there are there. We have had a good response from people already, having previously designed sites for companies as wide-ranging a tattoo parlour to a vehicle body repair centre in Storrington.”
