Tornado blows into airport

A TORNADO was heading for Shoreham on Tuesday – but you didn't have to take cover.

Transair - Europe's largest supplier of pilot's flight equipment - had acquired, from the Ministry of Defence, one of the RAF's frontline fighter aircraft to act as a gate guardian at its Shoreham Airport headquarters.

The Tornado is the RAF's first swing-wing, multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA).

Tornado XX947 was the second prototype aircraft to be constructed and was used extensively for flight-testing.

The plane arrived on Tuesday morning in sections and was brought in on low loaders, before being fitted together and craned into position.
