Teenagers are urged to join Europe debate

STUDENTS from Shoreham, Southwick and Lancing are being encouraged to join a debate on Europe.

The Political Studies Association (PSA) holds an annual short film competition, as part of a programme of activities to engage young people in the study of politics.

East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton hopes A-level students in his constituency will contribute to this years competition, on the theme ‘Europe – In or Out?’.

He said: “Our young people have never had their say on Europe. Should we stay in or should we leave?

“I’m a huge advocate of young people getting stuck in and having their say. This competition gives students the opportunity to do both.

“I’m encouraging all local A-Level students to take part and submit their ideas and videos.”

Shortlisted groups will be invited to Westminster to discuss the ideas raised in their video with a panel of politicians, journalists and academics.

The winners will receive their award in London on November 25 and be invited to spend a week volunteering with the YouGov political team.
