LECTURER Barbara Peacock will be looking at the development of the staircase in a talk for Steyning Decorative and Fine Arts.

The illustrated lecture, Flights of Fancy, starts the club’s new season at the Steyning Centre on Monday.

Barbara, an architectural historian, is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), writer, tour leader and lecturer.

She was tutor in fine art at Southampton University until 1998. She was previously assistant keeper of fine art at Birmingham City Art Gallery.

Barbara now arranges art and architectural courses in the UK and abroad.

Steyning Decorative and Fine Arts Society is a local branch of NADFAS, which meets on the second Monday of each month at the Steyning Centre.

Coffee is served at 10am and the meeting follows from 10.30am to midday.

Annual membership of £36 is due in January. Visitors pay £5 per lecture.
