Light rain and drizzle is expected to break later this morning before giving way to strong winds and cloudy skies this afternoon.
Wind speeds are expected to rise to more than 40mph in some places overnight, which may become gales in more exposed parts of Sussex on Monday.
Forecasters expect most of the day to remain cloudy with isolated showers in some areas.
Early forecasts indicate Tuesday and Wednesday will be clearer than the days before but will remain cold with the possibility of showers.
Dense clouds are expected to return on Thursday bringing some heavy downpours as well.
