Just days after a group chose to fundraise for the air ambulance, one of its members unexpectedly experienced the ‘extraordinary’ work of the charity.

Last year the Sussex Quilters decided to make a quilt to raise money for the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance to raffle at the group’s October 2015 exhibition.

Group member Sue Davies, who said she knew next to nothing about the air ambulance at the time, learnt very quickly about the charity’s work.

Mrs Davies, who attends the Shoreham group, said: “In fact just after a week later my husband was involved in a cycle accident on Worthing’s seafront cycle path.

“His injuries and outlook were so serious that the Air Ambulance was called and following some intensive on the scene care he was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

“I am delighted to say that following some ups and downs he has now made a complete recovery, all thanks to the extraordinary care and dedication given by the local ambulance service, the police and of course the Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance Service.

“Now that’s what I call a coincidence.”

The Sussex Quilters’ Exhibition will be held on October 10, 2015 at Shoreham Community Centre, Shoreham-By-Sea, West Sussex.

The exhibition will be open between 10am and 4pm and raffle tickets will be on sale for £1.
