Sussex Decides: Nick Gibb re-elected as MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton

A LANDSLIDE victory for Nick Gibb has seen him re-elected as MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton as expected.

The Conservative member, who has been the MP since the constituency was formed in 1997, gained 24,185 votes, a majority of 13,944.

UKIP candidate Graham Jones came second with 10,241 votes; Labour’s Alan Butcher third with 6,508; Liberal Democrat Francis Oppler fourth with 4,240 and Simon McDougall of the Green Party fifth with 1,942 votes.

For both Mr Gibb and UKIP’s Mr Jones it proved a highly successful night. Five years ago UKIP came last, while Mr Gibb’s majority was slightly up from the 13,063 in 2010.

The turnout amongst Bognor and Littlehampton voters was 64.9 per cent, slightly down on the 66.2 per cent five years ago.
