The project has helped children at Steyning CofE Primary School build functioning and drivable electric cars, known as Green Goblins, based on a kit that comes flat packed with step-by-step instructions guiding the team throughout the build.

Ricardo UK runs a variety of events throughout the UK as part of its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities programme to inspire young people.

To this end the company is currently supporting Steyning students, located close to Ricardo’s Shoreham headquarters.

The Shooting Field school has an ongoing tradition that Year 6 children rebuild and race these vehicles each year after they have completed their National Curriculum tests.

This year, in addition to the school’s two existing vehicles, two further vehicle kits have been purchased for the school, one by a former school governor and one by Ricardo UK.

The vehicle builds are being supported by members of staff, parents and Ricardo UK engineers, and on Wednesday (July 8) a time trial was held to celebrate completion of this year’s fast and furious activity.
