Jane Hames set up Glide Training in 2011 as she believed she could offer a more bespoke, tailored approach to training.

The Shoreham-based firm, nominated in the training and development category of this year’s Adur and Worthing Business Awards, has increased turnover by 80 per cent in the past 12 months.

“I risked leaving a secure job as an IT trainer in a large training organisation four years ago as I was becoming frustrated with the way that training was regularly offered as beginners, intermediate or advanced,” Jane explained.

“As an experienced trainer, I can always adapt the training on-the-spot to suit the customers but I knew things could be better if we got the objectives right from the outset.”

Glide specialises in bespoke training, delivered in-company.

Rather than having a fixed range of standard courses, it works to the client’s list of requirements.

Training formats include group sessions, one to one coaching, Skype and phone support, among other methods.

Jane added: “I feel that my customers are receiving a different experience to that they have received from other training providers and that I have made Glide Training stand out from the crowd.

“A huge achievement for me is that I am developing strong relationships that enable me to engage with them in way that I feel a part of their organisation.

“I have built trust and insight through offering the bespoke service which has allowed these relationships to develop and flourish.”

Jane Clifford, head of human resources at Astins Ltd, said Glide had received excellent feedback from staff.

She said: “Feedback on Jane’s training has been universally positive, and working with Jane I have found her to be professional, knowledgeable and flexible.

“I will continue to use Glide Training to provide IT training to the business. I am sure the training has helped people day-to-day as well as overall improve efficiency in the business, though improving IT knowledge.”

Gill Whensley, human resources director at Spofforths, added: “Spofforths asked Jane, to run a range of IT courses including advanced level Excel all of which were rated excellent by participants.
