Staff ‘humbled’ by scale of donationsto charity’s shop

With Christmas fast approaching there has been an increase in the number of donations in support of those most vulnerable this winter.

Sue Stevens, PR and fundraising manager for WCHP, said: “Our shop staff said it’s humbling that they’ve been receiving so much. It’s doing really well.

“We are receiving lots of lovely warm and waterproof items which is brilliant given the weather and some boots have come in which is really important at the moment.”

In addition to the collections, the charity will be providing Christmas dinner for its clients on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day with help from its volunteers.

Clients will also receive Christmas presents which have been donated by members of the public.

Sue said: “It’s a hard time of year and we do our best to make it as good as possible. People are so generous and kind, it warms your heart.”

Coats, hats, scarves, gloves and blankets can all be donated, all we ask is that they are clean and in a wearable condition. Other items, such as duvets and socks, cannot be accepted.
