SSAFA Worthing holds first Big Brew Up

ARMED forces charity SSAFA Worthing held its first Big Brew Up to raise funds for local servicemen and their families.

The tea party on Monday was hosted by Andy and Denise, owners of the Queensway Café Bistro in Lancing.

Ray Harris, publicity officer for SSAFA Sussex, said: “It was a fantastic afternoon.

“Andy and Denise are big supporters of SSAFA and they donated teas and coffee, plus arranged the raffle. Cakes and scones were donated by local businesses.

“The event was will attend by regular customers of the café and other members of the community.”

Special guests at the brew up included Adur District Council chairman Carson Albury and Worthing town crier Bob Smytherman, who started the afternoon by ‘waking up the town’.

Mr Harris said a total of £300.63 was raised and SSAFA Worthing would like to thank everyone for there continued support. The money will help servicemen and their families in Worthing, Ferring and Adur.
