Residents living close to Southlands Hospital in Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham wave goodbye to the Harness Block as contractors are on site today to tear it down, in order to make way for 106 homes.
In October last year, Adur District Council’s planning committee unanimously approved the Taylor Wimpey designs for the new homes, 32 of which will be affordable units.
The development will make total financial contributions of £571,000, including £50,000 of improvements to the Buckingham Park play area planned.
Southlands Hospital, however, is still up-and-running on the site in separate buildings.
But as the redundant hospital buildings are being pulled down, the Herald would like to ask its readers for their memories of Southlands?
Were your children born there? Did you work there? Do you have any other memories you would like to share?
