THE history of Lancing College and the amazing story of its visionary founder will be explored at Shoreham Society’s meeting tomorrow.
Historian Janet Pennington, the official archivist for the college, will use material from its extensive archives to describe how the college was established and the important role it has taken in the local community.
She will also tell the story of Nathaniel Woodard and his work which led to the establishment of the Woodard Foundation, one of the country’s most significant education institutions, and talk about the college’s landmark chapel.
The meeting, part of the society’s ongoing events programme, will be held at St Peter’s Church Hall, West Street, Shoreham, at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be available and entrance is £2 for members, £3 for non-members.
