Snap happy visitors win Arundel Castle photography awards
Arundel Castle has announced the winners of its annual photography competition, having received a record 152 entries this year.
There were four categories to choose from, including ‘Castle’, ‘Events’, ‘Gardens’ and ‘Everything Else’.
Lee Carpenter of Carpenter Photography scooped the Castle category with a shot of the castle as seen across the River Arun. In the Events category, Clare Seaman took the top spot with a picture from last year’s action packed International Jousting and Medieval Tournament Week.
Mark Sayers claimed victory in the Gardens category with a photo of the flowers surrounding the rill pond and Susannah Wheeler entered a picture of the views from The Keep. She was selected as the winner of the Everything Else category.
Each winner received a gold plus family ticket for use during the 2017 open season.
Bryan McDonald, castle manager, said: “We were thrilled to receive such a large number of entries and so many of a high calibre. We’re celebrating the 950th anniversary of the Castle’s initial construction this year with a packed events calendar, so there will be even more opportunities for our visitors to snap away in preparation for next year’s competition!
“We are working on making 2018’s competition bigger and better than ever before. Whilst photography of the Castle’s interior is not permitted, we thoroughly enjoy seeing our visitor’s snaps of the exterior of the Castle as well as action shots of our events and pictures of our gardens in bloom.”
Arundel Castle will reopen to visitors on April 1.
