Small businesses are ‘essential’ for economy

The organisation, which works in partnership with local authorities and business groups to maintain a link to regional business communities, is encouraging firms with up to 10 employees to be a part of this year’s awards.

Chairman Andrew Swayne said: “Small businesses for Adur and Worthing are an essential part of our local economy.

“The AWBP is pleased to sponsor this award for a second year in recognition of how important this type of business is in shaping the work that it does.”

Over the past year, the AWBP has supported Enterprise Week and a Business Showcase, together with a business health check project and the Making Changes event.

Combined, this is intended to ensure the right support network is in place for new and growing businesses.

Mr Swayne said: “It is important that we understand the issues facing businesses, and ensure that the AWBP provides an inclusive means of support for the local economy.

“There are many strategic level developments planned for our area, with the AWBP playing an influential part in ensuring the views of the local businesses are taken into account.”

He added: “We want a strong, local economy with inward investment, business growth and support for businesses.

“It is important that we have an economy which can withstand downturns in the wider economy, with vibrant, prosperous towns, attractive to visitors and residents.”
