Sisters help the homeless and bake a difference

Emmy and Isobella St George organised a Bake a Difference day in aid of Worthing Churches Homeless Projects.

They invited their family, friends and neighbours in Steyning to pop round to their house for the fundraising cake sale last Sunday.

They prepared lemon drizzle cake, chocolate brownies, gingerbread men and cupcakes, with all proceeds going to the charity, which covers Worthing and Shoreham.

Rachel Blair, the projects’ community fundraiser, said: “They are really keen to help out where they can.

“The girls circulated flyers to promote the event and were very proud to have raised a fantastic £230.”

She said both Isobella and Emmy had previously chosen pieces of art from the projects’ last two annual art exhibitions, held in 2013 and 2014, and they saw the cake sale as another way of showing their support.

“Worthing Churches Homeless Projects would like to say a big thank you to Isobella, Emmy and their parents Freddie and Kiri St George for holding such a successful cake sale,” added Rachel.

“It is a huge amount of money for two young people to raise and it will make a really big difference to the life of someone supported by the charity.

“Some of the clients of Worthing Churches Homeless Projects report feeling invisible and forgotten, so it is great to see people like Emmy and Isobella doing their bit to raise funds and awareness and remembering people who are struggling in our community.”

Worthing Churches Homeless Projects provides a wide range of homelessness services, inlcuding a day centre, 25-bed recovery project and social enterprise projects.

The Christian charity takes a determined approach to reduce rough sleeping levels and has more than 50 staff and around 200 volunteers.
