Shoreham Marine Day '˜a great success'

A marine workshop day for school teachers and youth group leaders in Shoreham has been hailed as a success by organisers.

The event was created and led by local biologist Steve Savage, who is education coordinator for the nature reserve and designed for Science and Geography teachers.

The teachers explored the physical coast and the processes that shape it and gained an insight into the marine wildlife and rare shingle habitat.

The event, which was held on Shoreham Beach on May 25, was attended by teachers from 12 local schools.

Mr Savage said: “We received some very positive feedback from the teachers and we are already looking to next year’s Marine Day and would love to hear from any schools that might be interested to attend to suggest ideas for next year’s programme”.
