People in Shoreham are enjoying the relaxed, friendly atmosphere and the range of films on offer.

Ropetackle volunteer Sandra Reeves said: “ So many of our members tell us that they are delighted to have such a vibrant club showing the films they enjoy in the heart of Shoreham.

“Even when the genre may not be the sort of film they would normally go to watch, they find that they always enjoy every one of them in some way or another.”

The club, based at Ropetackle Arts Centre, in Little High Street, has been a great success since it was launched in September 2012.

Film nights are held on the second Thursday of the month at 7.30pm and matinées are shown on the third Thursday of the month at 2pm. Tickets cost £3.50. The club runs from September until June.

Films coming up include Room at the Top on February 13, Don’t Look Now on March 13 and Scent of a Woman on April 10.

Sandra added: “As a very active club, we are continually looking to our members for constructive feedback in order to ensure that we continue to show films that they all enjoy, but also to encourage friendships to grow in an extremely friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

“It is our intention to explore the possibility of a film festival in 2015.”

The club also chooses a blockbuster for the season, with James Bond film Skyfall the next choice.

Sandra said: “For me, this James Bond film was the most enjoyable – I loved it. It is a film you can certainly enjoy watching more than once and I thoroughly recommend it for many reasons.

“It would be of particular interest to all Judy Dench fans, because, in her role as M, the film revolves a great deal of the time around her.”

Skyfall will be shown at the arts centre on Tuesday, March 5, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5.
