Shoreham bank gets a four-legged visitor

The two-year-old border collie cross went along to Santander, in High Street, Shoreham, with Naomi Tucker, a supporter relations officer from Dogs Trust, for the fundraising event on Friday.

More than £200 was raised for the Shoreham rehoming centre, from a raffle to win a bottle of champagne and the sale of homemade cakes and flapjacks.

Mortgage adviser James Wingate said the money raised by customers and staff would be matched by Santander.

He added: “Pip is looking for a home with another dog for company and children over the age of 12. She has a lovely friendly nature and loves to play and be scratched behind the ears.

“The trust is always looking for help, not just in donations but volunteers to help walk the dogs and also to help in the kennels from playing with the dogs, laundry, home visits as foster parents for dogs that don’t get on well in kennel conditions and, of course, organising fundraising events.”

Dogs Trust Shoreham is holding an open day on Sunday, May 25, including activities in Adur Recreation Ground.

There are currently 70 dogs at the Shoreham centre needing a home.

The centre, in Brighton Road, is one of the charity’s medium-sized centres.

It usually finds homes for about 16 dogs a month but last year, found new homes for more than 400 dogs.
