Shoreham Airshow crash: The 11 victims

All 11 victims of the Shoreham Airshow disaster have been identified following the opening of the inquest into their deaths this morning (Wednesday September 2).

Tributes have been paid to the men who lost their lives when a vintage Hawker Hunter jet crashed into the A27 at about 1.20pm on Saturday August 22.

Aged 76, Maurice Abrahams from Brighton was the oldest person to have died in the crash.

At the opening of the inquest it was revealed Mr Abrahams was last seen at 1pm when he left his home to drive to Worthing in his Daimler car.

Cyclists Dylan Archer, 42, from Brighton, and Richard Smith, 26, of Hove, left the Hove area at about 12.30pm on the day of the tragedy.

IT consultant Dylan and Richard, who worked in marketing and web development, were due to meet a friend for a ride in the South Downs.

NHS manager Tony Brightwell, 53, from Hove, held a pilot license and regularly attended Shoreham airfield to watch planes land and take off.

On the day of the disaster, he advised his fiancée he would be cycling to the Shoreham area to watch the air show from the side of the A27, it was revealed at the inquest.

The football community in Sussex and beyond has united to pay tribute to friends Matt Grimstone and Jacob Schilt, both 23.

They were occupants of a silver Vauxhall Corsa and were travelling to play for Worthing United in a football match against Loxwood.

Fears that Daniele Polito of Goring had died along with his friend Matt Jones, 24, from Littlehampton, were confirmed at the onset of the inquest.

Mr Polito, 23, the youngest person to die in the crash, was a passenger in Mr Jones’ silver BMW. The construction workers are believed to have been travelling to the beach after leaving work.

Retired engineer Graham Mallinson from Newick was the last of the 11 to be formally identified.

At the inquest, it was revealed he was the owner of a Rover which was found parked and unattended on the A27. His son and neighbour advised he had driven to watch the air show. It is believed he parked the car and walked to watch the display.

One of Mark Reeves’ favourite hobbies was taking photographs of planes at air shows.

The 53-year-old from Seaford, a computer-aided design technician, rode his yellow Honda motorcycle to Shoreham to watch the air show.

The last text message Mark Trussler sent to his fiancée was ‘I love you too, forever’.

The 54-year-old from Worthing, a window cleaner, rode his black Suzuki motorcycle to Shoreham. Following the crash, the motorbike was found at the scene.
