Shipwreck finds on show at Marlipins Musuem talk

SHOREHAM diver Eric Smith will be revealing some of the finds from wrecks in the area at a talk on Friday.

People will be able to see some of the finds for themselves, at Marlipins Museum, off High Street, Shoreham.

In his talk, Shipwrecks Under Sussex Waters, Mr Smith will paint an eerie picture of some of the wrecks and lost places he has explored.

Liza McKinney, from Friends of Marlipins Museum, said: “For hundreds of years, ships of all sizes and types have come to grief off the coast of Sussex.

“Unique finds include an American Flying Fortress and even pirate treasure that can be found under the sea off the Sussex coast.

“Eric will also have on display some of the fascinating finds he has brought ashore.”

The talk takes place in the upstairs gallery at 12.30pm Entrance is via Middle Street. Members £2, non-members £3.

Mrs McKinney said: “Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits will be available for visitors from 10.30am to 11.45pm and people are welcome to stay on for the talk at 12.30pm.”.

The talk earlier this month on Harbours of the River Adur proved so popular, ending up with standing room only, it will be repeated on May 8.
