Seminars to offer job hunters help in finding work

East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton has organised the event in partnership with Northbrook College, and Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce is also involved.

He said: “Although levels of unemployment in Worthing and Adur remain low, and have been falling, there is always more we can do, particularly to help young people coming out of school or college get on the jobs and training ladder.

“That is why I have set up the first Worthing and Adur Jobs Fair and if successful, I hope this can become an annual event.”

It will be held on Saturday, March 8, at the college’s new state-of-the-art facilities in Broadwater Road, Worthing.

The college is also providing seminars on areas such as CV formulation and interview techniques.

People will be given the chance to sit in on seminars and workshops with trained advisers, as well as explore the best ways to create a job application.

Seminars will run from 11am to 2.30pm, with the timings staggered and each seminar lasting up to 30 minutes. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Mr Loughton added: “The number of businesses and organisations attending the fair continues to rise, so this will be a great opportunity for anyone looking for work, looking for a career change or looking for training and education opportunities to come along and see what is on offer locally.”

Local businesses and organisations have been able to take up a stall for free and the names of some of those attending, including GlaxoSmithKline, NHS, Bowers and Wilkins, and Albion in the Community, have been released on the event’s official Twitter page (@WandAJobsFair).
