Scam letter warning
RESIDENTS in Shoreham, Steyning and Lancing have been warned of scam letters.
The letter has a Chinese header, address, e-mail and phone number, and the writer claimed to work for a large bank in Hong Kong, and to have information about the recipient being entitled to a large inheritance.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “This kind of letter is the preliminary step to seeking your money and bank details. So far we know of nobody who has been taken in by it, but be aware.
“Do not reply. You can consider tearing up any such letter, but tell us and we will record the report for intelligence purposes.”
