The money was presented to hospice representative Caroline Roberts-Quigley at a club meeting on Friday, the second amount to be donated this year.

The money has been raised from a club scheme, ‘Books in Banks’, where a number of local book banks donate to the club with books for them to sell on for local charities.

A spokesman for the club said: “Caroline thanked the club for its continued support and said that with the increase in nursing care at home in the community, funds are so very important as it will cost over £3.5 million to provide both the house and outreach care this year to so many life-limited children.

“She thanked the club once again and said that long live the ‘Books in Banks’ scheme.

“We are always pleased to talk to local people about rotary membership and explain how to become involved through rotary in service to our community.”

The club meets regularly at the Amsterdam Public House in Upper Shoreham Road and welcomes potential members. For more information and contacts, readers can visit the website www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/homepage.php?ClubID=1470
