Rotary book stalls help children's hospice

BOOKS have bagged a pot of cash for charity, thanks to a successful link between Rotarians and Barclays.

Caroline Roberts-Quigley, from Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, was invited to Shoreham and Southwick Rotary Club’s meeting on Friday to receive a cheque for £1,250.

The money was raised at the club’s secondhand book stalls in branches of the bank in Shoreham, Southwick and Lancing.

Rotarian Les Baker said: “We are indebted to Barclays bank for all their help and co-operation with this project and raising such a wonderful amount for such an incredible charity as Chestnut Tree House.”

Club president Alison Boram presented the cheque to Caroline, who then thanked the Rotary club members.

Caroline said the hospice was currently helping 300 children, at a cost this year of £3million.

She thanked Barclays and Rotary for their continued and valuable support, and looked forward to working with them into 2014.
