A BEAST stretching across Adur Ferry Bridge will be created to launch the Adur Art Trail.

The Build a River Beast event will be held on Coronation Green in Shoreham on May 30 and 31, from 10am to 5pm.

Organised by the adurArtcollective and Over the Moon, the event will ‘bridge’ the transition from the first week of the Adur Festival and the opening of Adur Art Trail.

Secretary Chris Howitt said: “Members of the public, young and old can help build a beast that will stretch the full length of Adur Ferry Bridge.”

This year’s trail features 25 venues across the district, which will be open from May 31 to June 15 to showcase a huge variety of art works from more than 80 artists.

Mrs Howitt said: “The venues vary from churches and cafés to houses, halls and houseboats, and St Mary’s Hall in East Street, Shoreham, will again be the setting for the Centerpiece exhibition.”

Entry is free and many venues will be serving refreshments.

Mrs Howitt said: “Adur Art Trail is a wonderful opportunity to get out and about, meet local artists, talk about their work with them and buy something special.

“You can find out more details by looking in the Adur Art Trail guide, which has a wonderful image of the Adur Ferry Bridge on the cover.”

The guide is being delivered this week to every house in Adur. It will also be available in libraries and other places.
