Remembrance services in Shoreham, Southwick, Steyning and Lancing

SERVICES will be held across the distric to mark Remembrance Sunday (November 14).

In Shoreham, there will be a parade from the Shoreham Centre, in Pond Road, to St Mary’s Church, followed by a Remembrance service and wreath-laying ceremony.

Anyone who wants to take part in the parade should meet at 9.30am at the Shoreham Centre.

The procession will set off at 9.45am, travelling along Western Road and Brunswick Road to St Mary’s.

In Southwick, there will be a service at the war memorial on Southwick Green at 10.55am.

This will be preceded by a parade from the Southwick Square car park at 10.30am, led by the Lancing Nautical Training Corps band.

In Steyning, there will be a service at the Church of St Andrew and St Cuthman at 10.30am.

There are also events on November 11, to mark the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month.

In Steyning, there is a short service at the Memorial Garden, in Mill Road, at 10.45am.

There will also be a two-minute silence at Southwick Square, followed by the laying of two wreaths at the memorial garden at the Community Centre at 11am.

Shoreham College will hold its own Remembrance service at 3.15pm at the college’s war memorial.
