Recruitment boost from forces champ

ADUR forces champion Peter Metcalfe found a warm welcome when he met up with former members of the Royal Corps of Transport.

He went along to the Royal Army Service Corps and Royal Corps of Transport (RCT) Association Worthing and West Sussex branch meeting.

“It was a particularly moving experience for me, as I was a serving member of the (RCT),” he explained.

The association is looking to recruit new members for comradeship, fellowship and occasional organised days out and visits.

The club meets monthly at Broadwater Working Men’s Club, in Broadwater Street East, Worthing,

Mr Metcalfe said: “You will be made most welcome.

“I can also say that any ex-members of the corps out there locally who do not join will be put on a 252 charge sheet.

“Only joking! But please come along and join in.”

Mr Metcalfe was made Adur District Council’s forces champion when his term of office as chairman came to an end in May.

The council, along with many others around the country, created the new role to provide a ‘one-stop shop’, offering advice and help to men and women adjusting to life on Civvy Street.
