Quad bike becomes trapped in River Adur as Coastguard warns people to follow lockdown advice

The Coastguard has issued a warning over behaviour during lockdown after a quad bike rider became trapped in the River Adur.

A spokesman for the Coastguard said a rescue team was called to the Adur in Shoreham at around 6pm on Tuesday (April 21) to reports of a person stuck in the mud. Joined by Sussex Police, the team found a quad bike had become stuck in the mud but safely recovered by the owner before rescuers had to step in. There was no pollution damage, but the Shoreham Coastguard Rescue Team issued safety information and advice to the person involved. A spokesman also warned the public to follow Government advice on staying safe during the coronavirus pandemic: "At this time, HM Coastguard's message is clear - we urge people to follow the Government's Covid-19 guidance and do not visit coastal areas during the pandemic. Stretch your legs locally but not our resources by enjoying fresh air or exercise close to home."
