Public consultation on West Sussex waste extended

West Sussex County Council and the South Downs National Park Authority are extending a public consultation about how they should plan for the management of the county’s waste in the future.

Stakeholders and members of the public will now have until Monday, August 13, at 5pm to comment on the draft West Sussex Waste Local Plan.

The draft plan identifies the amount of waste that will need to be managed up to 2031 and sets out the best possible sites for new facilities including proposed allocations at:

-Site north of Wastewater Treatment Works, Ford

-Hobbs Barn, near Climping

-Fuel Depot, Bognor Road, Chichester

-Brookhurst Wood, near Warnham

-Land west of Wastewater Treatment Works, Goddards Green

-Decoy Farm, Worthing

In addition there is a proposed extension to the landfill at Brookhurst Wood Landfill, near Horsham

Its aim is to help protect communities, the environment, the economy and the special character of West Sussex by setting out a vision and strategic objectives for sustainable waste management in West Sussex.
