Proposal to redevelop Shoreham site into 15 affordable homes

Cecil Norris House in Ravens Road, which was used as sheltered accommodation until it was decanted two years ago, would be demolished to make way for a block of one and two bedroom homes.

Adur Homes, the council’s housing service, will be holding a public consultation on the plans on Thursday, September 6.

A spokesman said: “This is the first council housing to be built by Adur District Council in over 30 years and will be the first of several building projects aiming to address a huge shortfall in affordable housing in the district.”

Councillor Carson Albury, executive member for customer services, said: “It’s excellent for residents as it’s an addition to Adur’s current housing stock.

“Adur has actually set aside money to develop it themselves.”

He said the current building at the site was old and needed modernising.

The proposal follows a planning application which would see 15 affordable council homes included in a new 50-home development in Albion Street, Southwick.

This scheme will see the council work with private company Albion Street Developments to deliver the homes.

The exhibition will take place from 4pm to 8pm at the Shoreham Centre in Pond Road.

Residents will have an opportunity to see the designs, meet the design team and share their views.
