It follows a complaint from someone at the event over the use of the remote-controlled flying cameras during the firework display.

Inspector Marc Clothier from Sussex Police said: “We received one report of drones being flown at the Littlehampton bonfire celebrations, but we have not seen any footage that would suggest dangerous use.

“Officers were aware that drones were being flown on the night, as they are at many events nowadays, but no concerns were raised at the time.

“No offences have been identified, but we have emailed the informant’s concerns to the Civil Aviation Authority and the matter will be raised with the bonfire society for them to consider whether they might wish to inform drone users of their responsibilities when flying at such events and the hazards of operating near fireworks.”

Tens of thousands of people came out for the annual celebrations, which took place on Saturday, October 31.
