Community Works, the action group appointed to deliver the infrastructure support services, is running an event on Wednesday to explain more.

This is primarily aimed at organisations that are most likely to receive referrals and it is an opportunity to discuss any issues surrounding their involvement in Going Local and social prescribing projects.

The meeting will be held at the Richmond Room, Worthing Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, from 1pm to 4pm.

There will be a brief overview of the projects, a talk on a referrer’s experience, an overview of Community Works’ support services and discussion workshops.

Social prescribing aims to help people living with complex social, emotional or practical needs whose health or wellbeing could be better managed with non-medical interventions.

For example, a person’s wellbeing could be increased by linking them with a befriending scheme to help reduce their isolation, or by helping them to get involved in an activity which will increase their wellbeing, such as an exercise or a creative arts group.
