Martin Cadman, 33, lived in Beeding and Shoreham before taking his own life.

This prompted Martin’s brother, Chris Cadman-Dando, 37, and ten of Martin’s friends to take part in the Warrior Run, in Albourne, on Sunday.

Chris said: “It was great fun and we all really enjoyed it. I could not stop smiling all the way around.

“It took us around an hour and 45 minutes to complete the course because we went round making sure we did the obstacles together.

“It was done in good spirit and there was great camaraderie between us.”

The eleven men took part in the muddy obstacle course in a bid to raise money for Campaign Aginst Living Miserably (CALM) and the YMCA.

CALM is a charity that works to prevent male suicide, the biggest single killer of men aged 20-45 in the UK.

The YMCA had provided Martin with support when he needed it and to his family in the wake of his death.

The men have now raised £3,000 and are hoping to raise even more in the coming weeks.

Chris added: “We would love to push the amount raised to around £4,000.

“We were invited onto the radio to talk about our fundraising bid, had the support of the local press and we tried to push it on social media.

“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support we have received and we would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported us in this effort.

“If somebody has listened to us on the radio or read our story and has decided to seek help and speak to people that can help, then that is success for us.

“Our aim is to raise awareness of this serious problem because dealing with suicide is very difficult. We want to make sure that people don’t have to do that.

“We want people to know that it is alright to talk about any problems they are having.”

Chris was joined by Martin’s friends David Putnam, Ben Domone, Tim Chase, Paul Standing, James Pargeter, Jason Cooke, Mick Yearsley, Si Colbourne, Stu Colbourne and Joe Bennett as they took on the obstacle course on Sunday.

If you would like to make a donation to CALM, then you can do so via David Putnam’s JustGiving page.

You can also donate to YMCA via the groups Tru Challenge website.
